LOLA - assisting young women navigate life changes
LOLA is a social movement that assists adolescent girls and young women to navigate meaningful life changes.
LOLA strives to give girls and young women a platform to access information about a wide range of pertinent topics, complete survey questions, and access linkages to relevant services within their communities.
The creative story behind the LOLA logo
The Lola logo was designed in collaboration with girls from Phola in Mpumalanga. The girls were given free rein to draw on, change or add things to their copies of the rough sketches of the Lola logo design (and the design of the visual of the app too!). A special addition to the logo is the scattered stars suggested by a soft-spoken girl which was added to show the potential of every girl in the world and show the girls they have the ability to reach for the stars. The logo is a colourful and joyful symbol of aspiration.

THE LOLA APP
This app was created for teenagers and young adults. LOLA allows young women and girls to create unique profiles to access individualized information and referrals to services. LOLA strives to give girls and young women a platform to access information about a wide range of pertinent topics, complete survey questions, and access details of relevant service providers on demand. Within the LOLA app, Lola is a character who can act as a best friend, a confidant and a provider of information. Lola has a story which can be accessed by registered users to provide context to her character, and allow the girls to feel more at ease with difficult topics covered within the app.
